Official data shows China factory activity contracting

Yields move inversely to prices.Currencies and oilThe U.S. dollar index, which tracks the greenback against a basket of its peers, was at 94.31 following a recent climb from below 94.The Japanese yen traded at 112.02 per dollar, having weakened from below 111.6 against the greenback yesterday. The Australian dollar changed hands at $0.7189 after falling from above $0.728 earlier this week.Oil prices were lower in the afternoon of Asia trading hours, with international benchmark Brent crude futures falling 0.31% to $78.40 per barrel. U.S. crude futures slipped 0.21% to $74.67 per barrel.
